Community EVENTS

Our club participates in various fundraisers, community events, and charitable works.  Below is a brief description of a few activities the club is involved with on a regular basis.

The Woodlands Wildflower Festival

For 34 years, The Woodlands Lions Club has been the beneficiary of the proceeds from the annual Woodlands Wildflower Festival. The Woodlands Wildflower Festival is a family-oriented event that consists of over 25 varieties of wildflower seeds distributed to the public for free courtesy of our seed sponsors. To round out the festival, there is also face painting, clowns, DJ, children's bounce houses, vendor booths, etc.  One of the highlights of the festival is the annual Wildflower Poster contest.  Each year entries are accepted for the adult and children’s contest starting after September 1st.  The winning adult entry is made into our official Wildflower Festival Poster and the winning child’s entry is made into our official Wildflower Festival tote bag.  Our sincere appreciation to all of our past corporate sponsors!

College Scholarships

The Woodlands Lions Club awards approximately $5,000 every year to high school seniors at The Woodlands High School, The Woodlands College Park High School, and Oak Ridge High School.  The  scholarships are based on financial need, academics, and community involvement.  If you know of a deserving high school senior at one of these schools, please have them contact their school counselor for more information and an application.

Gift of Sight Program

Throughout the year, The Woodlands Lions Club helps provide financial assistance for grade school students in South Montgomery County for eye exams and glasses.  The exams are paid for by the club and the glasses are donated through Lens Crafters.  Thousands of students have been helped with their sight through this program.  Almost every Lions club participates in a Gift of Sight Program for the schools in their hometown area.  The club greatly appreciates the school nurses that identify the children in need, the optometrists that perform the exams for free, and Lens Crafters.

Eye Glasses – Recycling Program

The Lions are dedicated to assisting individuals with their eyesight.  One way we can help people around the world is through donating our used glasses.  These glasses are then distributed internationally to individuals through mission trips.  Please consider donating your used eyeglasses.  Donations sites are all around – including most Wal-marts.

Texas Lions Camp

One of the greatest treasures in our state is the Texas Lions Camp.  It is a summer camp specifically designed for physically challenged children and children with medical conditions.  Every year our club sends local children for a week-long session of fun in Kerrville, Texas, at no expense – totally FREE.  For more information on this incredible program, please visit www.lionscamp.com or contact a club member.

College Park HS Leo Club

The Woodlands Lions Club is the proud sponsor of the The Woodlands College Park High School Leo Club.  Hundreds of students have participated in this youth service organization since its founding in 2004.

The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce CARES Committee

Lions partner with the Chamber on select non-profit out-reach organization events benefiting the community.
