Vision PROGRAMS
The Woodlands Lions Club is proud to participate in the Lions Gift of Sight Program. Our goal is to help those in need with their sight. The Lions are involved in a multitude of programs.
Locally, our primary program is for grade school children in our community of South Montgomery County. We help acquire eye exams and glasses for children in need that are referred to us. For additional information or to make a request send an email to LionsGiftofSight@gmail.com
We also collect used eye glasses that are refurbished and sent on international mission trips. If you have old eyeglasses to donate, we would be glad to accept them via our local collection sites listed below:
Usable Glasses Give New Life
Refractive errors can be easily corrected with eyeglasses, yet millions living in low and middle-income countries lack access to basic eye care services. Lions have recognized the urgent need for corrective lenses and collect usable glasses in their communities to support the Lions Recycle For Sight Program.

What is an Eye Bank?
Eye banks recover, evaluate, store and distribute human eye tissue for vision restoration, research and education. Eye surgeons rely on eye banks to supply them with tissue for sight-saving procedures. The Lions Eye Bank of Texas at Baylor College of Medicine is located in Houston within the Texas Medical Center. Founded in 1953 by Baylor and the Lions Clubs of the Texas Gulf Coast, the Lions Eye Bank of Texas provides ocular tissues to surgeons across the Texas Gulf Coast and the United States and throughout North and South America.
The Lions Eye Bank of Texas joins two key resources for sight enhancement and improvement. Lions Clubs have demonstrated nearly a century of commitment to fighting for the correction and rehabilitation of sight-threatening conditions. The Department of Ophthalmology at Baylor provides the clinical resources of corneal specialists and others to assist in oversight, training and quality management of eye banking and corneal transplants. These combined resources create one of the leading eye banks in the United States.
Under the clinical leadership of an executive medical committee composed of corneal surgeons, the Lions Eye Bank of Texas procures over 1,400 eye donations every year to meet the needs of surgeons along the Texas Gulf Coast. The Lions Eye Bank of Texas service area includes Beaumont, Port Arthur, Nacogdoches, Corpus Christi, Victoria, and the Rio Grande Valley.
The Lions Eye Bank of Texas at Baylor received the highest level of accreditation granted by the Eye Bank Association of America. The Lions Eye Bank also functions as a public education center for eyesight, eye disease, and eye donation. For more information on Lions Clubs International, please visit their website.
